Includes Meet & Greet on arrival at Christchurch Airport and transfers by private vehicle for arrival and SIC transfer for departure, with all touring and sightseeing by seat in coach using daily scheduled air conditioned coach services with experienced English speaking driver / guide, a choice of 3 standards of hotel accommodation, with sightseeing and entrance fees included as specified, and daily buffet breakfast at hotel. Best of the South – 08 Days / 07 Nights Itinerary Detail

DAY 01: ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH:

Meet & Greet on arrival at Christchurch International Airport.
Transfer by private vehicle to your hotel in the “Garden City”.


DAY 02: CHRISTCHURCH / MOUNT COOK / DUNEDIN:

Check out of your hotel after breakfast this morning and transfer to Dunedin today by SIC traveling across the Canterbury Plains to Geraldine and over rolling hill country to Fairlie. Climb up through the Burke’s Pass to the MacKenzie High Country. Stop at the “Church of the Good Shepherd” on the shores of Lake Tekapo before following Lake Pukaki to the highest mountain in New Zealand – Mt Cook. There is time for an Optional scenic flight here subject to the weather on the day. (Please note that this Optional scenic flight is not included in the tour cost.) Continue via Twizel and Omarama and follow the Waitaki River to Oamaru and then on to Dunedin via Palmerston and Wakouiti. The rest of the day is at leisure.


DAY 03: DUNEDIN:

This morning you will enjoy a seat in coach city sightseeing tour including the First Church, the Octagon, Dunedin Cathedral, Botanical Gardens, Town Belt, and the University of Otago. In the afternoon you will enjoy an afternoon 1/2 day seat in coach sightseeing tour out along the Otago Peninsula following the harbour edge to the Royal Albatross Colony Visitors Centre. Later visit Natures Wonders to see the Yellow Eyed penguins and then visit the grounds of Larnach Castle, built by William Larnach in the nineteenth century and the only castle in New Zealand. Return to Dunedin city and your hotel afterwards. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or continue to explore this student city on your own.


DAY 04: DUNEDIN / TE ANAU:

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and the morning is at leisure. Transfer from Dunedin to Te Anau by SIC. Travel South via the towns of Milton, Balclutha, Gore and Lumsden before crossing the Southland Plains to Te Anau on the shores of the lake, and the gateway to the Fiordland National Park, now proclaimed a World Heritage Park. Arrive at your hotel in the afternoon and check in. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or to take a walk or to explore the surrounding area.


DAY 05: TE ANAU / MILFORD SOUND / QUEENSTOWN:

Check out of your hotel after breakfast. Full day excursion to Milford Sound by SIC. Depart from Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park, a World Heritage Park and pass through Beech forests, glaciated valleys, the Homer Tunnel with its 1:10 gradient, and stunning scenery to reach the majestic Milford Sound. Enjoy a cruise on this world famous fiord which is dominated by Mitre Peak and the Bowen Falls. After the cruise travel by seat in coach to Queenstown via Te Anau and arrive at your hotel in Queenstown in the late afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax.


DAY 06: QUEENSTOWN:

Free day at leisure with an opportunity to explore on your own or to experience some of the many Optional activities available here such as jetboating, bungy jumping, whitewater rafting, TSS Earnslaw cruise across Lake Wakatipu to the Walter Peak Sheep Station, gondola ride up Bob's Peak, 4WD safaris and many more options. Enjoy Queenstown - the Adventure Capital of New Zealand. (Please note that Optional activities above not included in tour cost.)


DAY 07: QUEENSTOWN / CHRISTCHURCH:

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and travel by seat in coach to Christchurch this morning traveling through the Kawarau Gorge once more and the fruit growing area around Cromwell and across Lake Dunstan and through Central Otago to the Lindis Pass and up into the MacKenzie High Country, through the settlement of Omarama and on to Lake Tekapo. Descend Burkes Pass to Fairlie and drive through rolling hill country to Geraldine and across the long, straight, flat Canterbury Plains to the "Garden City" of Christchurch once again. Check in to your hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure to relax.


DAY 08: DEPART CHRISTCHURCH:

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Christchurch Airport. Your arrangements conclude with a transfer by SIC to Christchurch Airport. We trust that you have enjoyed your New Zealand holiday with Adventure Pacific.
